5.  In the introduction of world music, it is useful to have classification systems as a guide in listening.  One such system is instrumentation. Campbell specifically spoke of sound awareness activities in the classroom during which students explore the origin of sounds, timbre and the relation to the source of sound to culture. In this particular example, Kim is demonstrating the traditional Korean instrument, Chang-go. Integrating the Campbell approach to sound exploration and the classification system of instrumentation/orchestration as discussed in the text, we would place the Chang-go in the percussion category. Upon further discovery, we would also recognize that either side of the instrument is covered in animal skin and that one side is "pitched" higher than the other.  This element adds aural perception of high and low to the existing percussive nature of the Chang-go.
